PRJF - CT - Shark Animal Spirit

Here's my review for the Shark Animal Spirit.

This is the animal spirit of Master Finn, RJ's father. Master Finn hates disappointments and failures, even with his son he always wants to be perfect. He tried to teach RJ the shark technique but RJ always rejects it. But Cassey wants to learn it, so Master Finn decided to teach this technique to Cassey. And soon Cassey learned to use the Jungle Sabers; two swords that can be combined to form one large sword. Later in the series, the 3 masters can summon the Jungle Spirit Rangers after the phantom beasts unlocked them.

With that Rangers can now summon the Shark zord. Giving them an extra power and now their megazord can swim fast under the water.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is BACK

It's Morphin Time!!!

Mastodon

Saber Tooth Tiger

Triceratops

Pterodactyl

Tyrannosaurus

They are back, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers will be back after almost 17 years. The series will be re-aired again next year. We will again journey at Angel Grove with Jason, Billy, Zach, Trini, Kimberly and Tommy. Along with that, we can again see the coolest robot Alpha 5, (the big bald head in the water) Zordon and evil space alien Rita Repulsa.

Toys from this re-aired series are already out in some countries like U.S.. There are 4" action figures, cycles and the very first Megazord of Power Rangers, the Dino Megazord with some changes from the original version of this toy like there's no wheels, no chrome and a little smaller but the good thing is; it is more leaner (looks better) and still have the features (like the tank mode) of the original version. Like the original version, it comes with stickers.

But unfortunately, all the fans of MMPR from the Philippines will have to wait a little more because Power Rangers here is a year late. We are still in the Jungle with Power Rangers Jungle Fury. And I hope that even though it is a re-run, we can again watch it here.

The series that we used to love when we were still kids and the series that started it all.

Toy from Past: MHM2004 - Mcdonald's Characters

***Toy from the Past: This will cover all the toys before I created Toy Chronicles, that means even toys came out early this year. (I will rate them from 1 to 10, 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest.)

***The toys from this segment will not be included in the Face-OFF segment.

For the first toy from the past, I will decided to choose these:

These are from Mcdonald's Happy Meal, I think these are my first toys from Mcdo that I completed (after I gave all my toys to my cousins and start my collection again).

These toys came up with different colours of clay.

  • Grimace
Put some clay inside Grimace's body (hole can be found under the toy) and push the clay using a plastic pusher that is included in this toy. Watch his fries come out. Push it more to make his fries longer.
  • Birdie
Just put some amount of clay inside Birdie's body and push as hard as you can to see her hair grow.
  • Hamburglar
Again put some clay inside him and this time watch his tongue grows.
  • Ronald Mcdonald
Open his hands and put a small amount of clay and press it hard and then open it to reveal a hamburger.

  • That's it, 1 of my first toys from Mcdonald's Happy Meal. I think they are 5 year old toys already and I love the toys that time, good quality, nice details and worth the price. Though the features and gimmicks are not that very impressing, I still like these toys.
I Rate It: 6/10

Lily helped Master Phant to regain his confidence to fight and after that he will teach Lily to summon the Elephant spirit to make them more powerful. The Elephant spirit can transform into the Elephant Ranger and summon the Elephant zord that can be transformed into an armor and a weapon (jungle mace) for the Jungle Pride Megazord and Jungle Master Megazord.

Vote for Your Best Power Rangers Series

Vote for your favorite series of Power Rangers.

Now that Power Rangers series will stop for a while from adapting Japanese's Super Sentai (because the current Super Sentai Series (Shinkenger) is all about Japanese Culture, even the Zords have Japanese Characters on it so I don't think America can adapt this), it's time to show some support. I'm really enjoying all the series from Season 1 (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) to currently Season 16 (Jungle Fury) and to future Season 17 (Power Rangers RPM) here in the Philippines.

Show that we all love the colorful costumes, awesome megazords and the action figures. I will skip some series because some series did not aired here in the Philippines.

  • Very first series of Power Rangers. . . It's Morphin Time ! ! !

  • Wild Access ! ! !

  • Ninja Storm Ranger Form Hiya ! ! !

  • Dino Thunder Power Up ! ! !

  • SPD Emergency ! ! !

  • Magical Source Mystic Force ! ! !

  • Overdrive Accelerate ! ! !

  • Jungle Beast Spirit Unleash ! ! ! Watch it every weekends on Cartoon Network (8:00am or 7:30)

  • Last series (rumored) - Not yet aired here in the Philippines.

JKM Presents: Chowder (Snack Buddies)

Jollibee Kids Meal Presents: Chowder (Snack Buddies) for the month of September 2009. There 3 toys to choose from. These toys are supposedly for the girls (Bleach toys are for the boys) but I think any gender will do because every kid eats snacks and they are cute too.

JKM Presents: Bleach (Collect n Collide)

Jollibee Kids Meal Presents: Bleach (Collect n Collide) for the month of September 2009. There are 3 toys to collect, you can choose from Ichigo Kurosaki, Toushiro Hitsugaya or Renji Abarai. Basically they all the same, so I will just review all of them at once. Collecting two or more of these toys will lead you into a nice game concept (but not in these toys).

PRJF - CT - Jungle Master Megazord

I will now review the candy toy version of the 2nd Megazord of the Rangers in the series of Power Rangers Jungle Fury. Later in the series the rangers will have the access to Jungle Master powers with the help of Jungle Master Spirit Masters namely Master Rilla, Master Guin and Master Lope. The Rangers will become stronger, will have a new costumes and they can now access the power of three new zords; the Gorilla zord, Penguin zord and the Antelope zord. These zords will form the Jungle Master Megazord.

There are 3 candy toy boxes that you need to purchase to form this megazord. Each box comes with 1 zord that you need to assemble and apply some stickers. I bought them from a guy (I can't remember his name) for P700 (approx. $15). But before that I already have the Antelope zord so I have 2 antelopes.

  • Gorilla Zord - Red Ranger
Just like candy toy version of red tiger zord, I think among the 3 toys the gorilla zord will be the most worthy in terms of it's size, details and poseability maybe because the the two toys make the upper body of the megazord including the head, torso, arms and the thighs. For the articulations, the head can't move sideways. Arms and hands can move 360 deg., the elbows can be bend forward, hands can be opened unlike the hands of Red Tiger zord. The legs can move back and forth. The details are nice and it is very close to its DX counterpart almost 90%.

  • Antelope Zord - Blue Ranger
The Antelope zord is the simplest among the 3 toys. I think the simplest toy in this series. There's nothing you can do much in this toy, leg of the zord or the animal form. The articulations are also few. The legs can move back and forth (just for the transformation) but unlike the Cheetah and Jaguar you can not bend the legs. The head and the neck can move up and down.

  • Penguin Zord - Yellow Ranger
The Penguin Zord is 1 of my favorite zords in the series. It is so cool; a penguin with surf board (at first I thought it was a snake). The penguin has also a headphone on her ears and a heart shape symbol on her chest. For the articulations, you can move her head and her wings up and down or you can rotate it 360 deg. The legs can bend a little forward. The surf board can't roll at all.

  • Jungle Master Megazord
Combine them together to form Jungle Master Megazord. For me this zord is better than their first megazord. It is very nice and cool, looks like very strong and bulk. I also like the flaming chest of the megazord. You can pose the megazord in any way you want because of it's articulations, it has more articulations than it's DX version. Grab them if you have the chance to grab them because this is a very good toy.

Marvel Legends: X-23

Real Name: Laura Kinney

Alias: X - 23

Power 1: Adamantium Claws, both hands and feet

Power 2: Trigger Scent; that drives her into killing rage

Affiliation: X-men

Origin:

Because of the success of the Weapon X (Wolverine), a program has been established to replicate the procedure to make a clone of Wolverine and to form another indestructible mutant. Doctor Rice lead the way in this operation with another doctor named Doctor Sarah Kinney. After 22 attempts of mixing and matching chromosomes, the 23rd was a success. Dr. Sarah Kinney forced to be the surrogate mother of the experiment. After 9 months of pregnancy, she gave birth to X-23.

X-23 grew up with trainings on arts of war, learning strategies, weapons and combats. She became a subject of many experiments, she was exposed to different radiations to activate her mutant skills. Then Rice coated her claws in both hands and feet with adamantium. He also created a "trigger scent" that makes X-23 into killing state and eventually killed her mother because of this murderous state.

After that X-23 became a villain of different marvel superheroes like Spider-man, The Hulk, etc. and also a member of some affiliations that fights evil like X-men and S.H.I.E.L.D.

  • X-23 Toy: by ToyBiz
X-23 toy was released by Toybiz in 2006 and part of Series 12 of Marvel Legends Action Figure line. The series is composed of 6 figures (Astonishing Wolverine, Sasquatch, Bishop, Maestro Hulk, Iron Fist and X-23). The series has a BAF (build-a-figure) Apocalypse and each figure comes with a part of Apocalypse.

X-23 comes with the Head including the upper torso of Apocalypse. The figure is nice and I think she is 1 of the decent female figures of Marvel Legends because some female figures of Marvel Legends are not that good in details (in face, in body proportion, etc.), maybe because they are hard to mold cause females are too skinny and lean. And somehow I think her head is too big for her body maybe because of her hair. For the articulation, she has more than 30 points of articulation including her folding claws on her feet. Her face was properly painted including her eyes. The figure also comes with a comic book featuring herself.

X-23 has a variant figure with black costume and a different face. In some countries this is not the variant figure, the violet one is the variant. But here in Philippines, the black one is the variant. Over-all, the figure is worth it because it comes with huge BAF part.

Transformers Animated: Soundwave

Most of the Transformers Fans love Soundwave because of his nice alternate mode, a cassette recorder (from original version) and even has tapes that transform into animal minions. Some of his tapes are Ravage, Laserbeak, Ratbat, Frenzy, and etc. He also has a unique robotic voice that until now retains to his character regardless of his alt-mode. He is also 1 of the loyal servant of Megatron, leader of Decepticons.

But Soundwave made some major transformation as time goes on. His toy adaptations have many different alt-mode aside from a cassette recorder. He became a tank in 1997 Machine Wars toy line, a jet in Transformers: Cybertron and a satellite in the latest 2009 movie Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen with Ravage, a cat like robot.

  • In Transformers: Animated toy
Soundwave transforms into Scion xB, a small van with designs of speakers and cassette buttons. Instead of cassette tapes, Soundwave has different instruments that transforms into his minions like Laserbeak and Ratbat. In the first released of deluxe Soundwave he comes with Laserbeak, a guitar that transforms into a bird. And in the unreleased toy of Soundwave, it comes with Ratbat, a keytar that transforms into a bat.

The toy has nice details like the outlines on the van's body look luminous and outlines in the tires that look like speakers in his robot mode. You can put the guitar on the top of the van. His chest in robot mode looks like from his original design (a cassette player's door). He can also hold his guitar for you to pose him like a rocker. Or transform Laserbeak into a bird and put it on his arm.

Grab him now for just P400 (approx. $8.5) from its original price of P699 (approx. $15) at malls nationwide.

Power Rangers Jungle Fury

The 16th season of Power Rangers will finally be aired on September 5 on Cartoon Network.

Let us first learn some Facts from this series:

  • This series is an adaptation of the japanese Juken Sentai Gekiranger.

  • There are 3 major Rangers from this series. Casey the Red Ranger (Tiger), Theo the Blue Ranger (Jaguar) and Lily the Yellow Ranger (Cheetah).

  • Their morphers are called Solar Morphers. Looks like a sun glasses.

  • After a while 2 more Ranger will join the group. R.J. will be the Violet Ranger (Wolf) and Dominic will be the White Ranger (Rhino).

  • Their Megazord is a combination of 3 zords and can be combined with 1 power-up zord like the elephant, shark, bat, wolf, lion and chameleon. These zords will give them power and and armor.

  • Dai Shi will be their main villain in the series.

  • There are 13 zords in this series; Red Tiger, Jaguar, Cheetah, Gorilla, Penguin, Gazelle, Elephant, Shark, Bat, Wolf, Lion, Rhino and a small Chameleon. But unfortunately they do not transform into 1 massive Megazords like the other series.

I think this is a good series as from what I saw on the first few episodes from youtube. I like their costumes and their zords though I like zords that combine into 1 big megazord like the Drivemax Ultrazord from Operation Overdrive.

That's it for now, just watch Power Rangers Jungle Fury on Cartoon Network every weekend mornings.

Toys are NOW available from this series. I just saw some figures and Transforming Megazords in Malls.

JKM Presents: Justice League (Action Collection)

Jollibee Kids Meal Presents Justice League Action collection for the month of August 2009. There are 3 toys to choose from and each has features that children will enjoy. I will post the pictures later.
  • The first figure is Superman:
It has rotating base while Superman is flying (with the help of strings and a magnet) and while you are pressing the button, it shoots disc. Comes with 1 disc.

  • 2nd is Green Lantern:
This figure is a pen and has a lighting gimmick, while you are writing his chest lights up. It has also a base that serves as a launcher. Put Green Lantern and press the button and watch Green Lantern fly (well not actually).

  • 3rd toy is The Flash:
The toy is a stamper that prints The Flash's symbol and whenever you roll it, the figure rotates giving you a running action for The Flash.

  • The toys are nice, have good paint applications and nice gimmicks but I will prefer to have all 7 of them rather than only 3. Hope that Jollibee will release the other 4.

Thank You President Corazon C. Aquino

Last August 1, 2009 our beloved former President Cory Aquino died because of more than 1 year battle against colon cancer. And as a Filipino I am very proud that she was the very first woman president in the Philippines and even in South East Asia. She accomplished lots of things when she was still in her position and 1 of these is bringing back the DEMOCRACY in the Philippines. And even after her term she was still active in helping and supporting the filipinos.

Even if she was just an ordinary house wife of her late husband Senator Ninoy Aquino, she proved to us that she can do anything and fought for our freedom against a powerful dictator using her courage and faith in God.

I just wanna say that

Thank You President Corazon C. Aquino

for the freedom that we have and I will cherish and be proud of everything that you sacrificed for
US

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

.
Based from a popular action figure series G.I. Joe, here comes an live-action film G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra to be released in August this year.
.
This action figure was first released 1964, a 12 inch military soldier figure then 1982 the figures were relaunched in a 3 and 3/4 scale up to now. The figure comes with different accesories like guns, grenade, vehicles and others things.
.
The film focuses on how the Cobra Organization started. It also show how Duke and Ripcord enter the G.I. Joe Team. Channing Tatum (Step Up 1) played the role of Duke and Marlon Wayans as Ripcord. Directed by Stephen Sommers, the man behind The Mummy, The Mummy Returns, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (Producer) and Van Helsing.
.
I am not a G.I. Joe fans, but when I saw the trailer of this movie I think I'm gonna watch it. For me know the story and maybe it will make me a fan of this 45 year old toy and start collecting them.

PRJF - CT - Jungle Pride Megazord

Power Rangers Jungle Fury is not yet aired in the Philippines so I don't know the whole story of this series yet. I only watched the first two episodes of the series on You Tube. All I know is that, there are three main characters in this series. Casey, Theo and Lily are the Red Ranger, Blue Ranger and Yellow Ranger respectively. They are fighting to save the world from the evil Dai Shi's plan. The Japanese Counterpart of this is the Juken Sentai Gekiranger.

I am reviewing the Candy Toy version of the Jungle Pride Megazord.

***Candy Toys are the smaller versions of the deluxe megazords toys and usually these are from Japan because U.S. don't release them in the market. They are half the size of the original Deluxe version and much cheaper. The parts are made of hard plastic and you need to first assemble the parts included in the box. There are stickers that you need to apply so that your zords will be more likely close to the original zords in the series. One thing I don't like about Candy Toys is that their stickers are can be easily wear off, specially for the smaller ones. Sometimes, while you are playing you might lost it without even knowing it.

There are three Candy Toys Boxes that you need to be able to form the Jungle Pride Megazord

RED TIGER: The Red Tiger zord is the first jungle spirit of Casey the Red Ranger.

I bought it at the Department Store of SM North Edsa for P250 or $5. The Red Tiger will be the upper body including the thigh of the Jungle Pride Megazord that means Head, Arms and Torso are included. The Head don't move side ways but it can move upward and downward because of the transformation process. The Arms can rotate 360 and elbows can bend forward. The hand can be rotated 360. It's Tail can be removed to form the weapon of the megazord.

BLUE JAGUAR: The Blue Jaguar is the jungle spirit of Theo the Blue Ranger.

I got this at Toy Kingdom in "The Block" for discounted price of P150 or approx. $3 because it was on sale. The Blue Jaguar will be the right leg of the Jungle Pride Megazord. The Head and Neck can move up and down, it's mouth can be opened and it has Shades/ Visor that can be moved up and down. And then it's Hind legs are fixed. The front legs can move 360. All four Knees are can bend because of the transformation process. It's Tail can be removed to form the weapon of the megazord.

YELLOW CHEETAH: The first jungle spirit of Lily, the Yellow Ranger.

I got this along with the Red Tiger, for P250 or $5. It's not that big just like the Red Tiger so I think the price is not fair. This will be the left leg of the megazord. This is my least favorite of the three because there's nothing you can do much here. Just like the articulation of the Blue Jaguar.

Jungle Pride Megazord

That's it just put them together to form the Jungle Pride Megazord, the first Megazord of the Rangers in Power Rangers Jungle Fury. They are like the tigers of Voltron but only three. The robot mode is much cooler than in animal modes. It is nice, it has lots of articulation, you can pose it in any battle position you want.

Transmax VS Candy Toy

Now let us cite some differences and similarities between U.S.'s Transmax Megazord and Japan's Candy Toys. The above pics are from Power Rangers Operation Overdrive or the Super Sentai Boukenger Series.

This is the first time that Bandai America released a mini version of their Megazords. They called it Transmax Vehicles. They are transformable to vehicles and can also form Megazord. It has different sets. I only got 2 sets, Set B and Set C so I have the nos. 2,3,6,7,8,9 and 10 vehicles.

Let's start:

SIZE

As you can see in the picture the CT version is a little bigger to the Transmax version. But somehow the CT is more consistent when it comes to the size because the Transmax Vehicles have different scales sometimes it is bigger and sometimes smaller than CT. When you combine them you will see that the body of transmax is big and the legs are too short making your megazord looks awkward.

  • Winner: Candy Toy Version

DETAILS

What is good with the Transmax is that they used paints and they have shiny paints if necessary. Paints can last more than the stickers of CT. BUT CT is more detailed when you apply the stickers provided. It has even the number of the zord.

  • Winner: Both

PLAYABILITY

For the playability factor, Transmax is ready for playing after your purchased. But the CT version needs your patience for the assemble of each zords then after the assemble, you still need to properly and carefully apply the stickers. In Transmax you can do some Megazords that are not in the show, just mix and combine them like LEGO.

  • Winner: Transmax Version

ARTICULATION

For the articulation, I am very sure that CT won this aspect because the CT version is same as the DX version and sometimes even better articulation than the original. Transmax version is like a LEGO; it has pegs, you need to detach each part and connect again to form into a Megazord or vice versa and even in posing them.

  • Winner: Candy Toy Version

PRICE

The CT is a little expensive compared to the Transmax because in this set; Transmax requires only 2 sets which consist of 7 zords while in CT you need to buy 5 boxes which roughly costs $4 (P210.00) each, but you will get a nice and more accurate toys.

  • Winner: Both

FINAL SCORE

Transmax - 1 Candy Toy - 2

Draw - 2

Final Verdict

You want a toy that has lots of ways to play BUT not detailed
or
You want a toy that is exactly a mini version of the original toy BUT a litte pricey

DX VS. CANDY TOY

I will show and site some differences between a DX Mecha and its Candy Toy Version. The example pics are from Japan's Super Sentai Boukenger or the America's Power Rangers Operation Overdrive.

SIZE

Size will be the first thing that you will notice if you put them side by side. Candy Toys are just half the size of the original DX version.

  • Winner: DX version

DETAILS

In Details, and the DX is more detailed. The DX version has Chrome paints to make it more realistic and close enough to the series.
