Power Rangers RPM is Here

Finally it's here in the Philippines.

Power Rangers RPM

RPM as in Racing Performance Machine.

Power Rangers RPM toys are now available at your nearest toy store. Figures, vehicles, megazords are for grabs before the series hits our television this September.

The figures are amazing and really awesome for me. No electronics, for me it's ok. Lots of bonus items (guns, weapons, sword, mini figure and a mini zord). Also nice details and packaging. There is also a sticker included. And it is cheaper than the Jungle Fury Sound Figures.

And also the Megazords are now available. High Octane Megazord and Valvemax Megazord are now available. You can combine the 2 Megazords to form Zenith Megazord.

Soon two more Megazord (the Mach Megazord and the Paleomax Megazord) and will be released and combining the four will form the RPM Ultrazord.

Here's the comparison of the RPM Ultrazord (left, US version) and the Engine-Oh G12 (right, Japanese version). G12 is bigger, heavier, high quality, have electronic sounds, show accurate, has more articulated parts and the most obvious difference, but not good is the PRICE.

So if you want a cheaper version of this awesome megazord grab the US versions. But opposite of the pros of Engine-Oh G12.

GoseiWonder and Mystic Brother Candy Toys

Here's the pic of the candy toy version of the GoseiWonder which appears in the Goseiger Movie.

GoseiWonder composes of 5 new headers (A beetle, Dolphin, Elephant, Alligator and a Bird)
A repaint Goseidragon making it purple and the rest gosei machines remained. So if you already have GoseiGreat, You will only need to buy the first two boxes.

The weapon becomes a big Axe and helmet to make a new head.

  • I don't like the base color in this pic (purple). The above pic however is nicer, combination of purple and blue.

And the Mystic Brother, an ostrich that can be combined with
Datas (making Datas to fly) and GoseiGreat (Adds a spinning attack).
  • Both Candy Toys made with 1 base color (GoseiWonder-All BlueViolet, Mystic Brother-All Green), All other colors you see are all stickers. Too much painting job to be done.
Want these. Still need the Datas, Skyick, Seaick and Landick Brothers.

TSS - CT - GoseiGround

Here's GoseiGround Candy Toy version from the super sentai series Tensou Sentai Goseiger.

This set has 4 boxes, 2 boxes for the Groundion (1-top part, 2-wheels),1 box for the Skyion and another box for the Skyion. Each box costs P250 or approximately $5 each. And since they from the current super sentai series, local toy stores do not sell these. I got them in a toy store that sells toys from Japan and US.

And I still don't have the Skyick, Seaick and Landick Brothers and Datas.

Like in the series, the header of the Groundion can be transformed into GoseiKnight figure.

Super Sentai 2010: Tensou Sentai Goseiger

Tensou Sentai Goseiger will be the Super Sentai for this year. It is a playing card themed. There will be five young teenagers that will protect the earth from the invaders called "Warstar". The main colours will be; Red, Black, Blue, Yellow and Pink. Their main mechas will be a hybrid of vehicle and an animal like go-onger, but this time a hybrid of a vehicle and a Dragon, a Shark, a Tiger, a Phoenix and for the first time a Snake. This time there will be headers that can be combined with the main mecha to make it more powerful.

Here are some pictures of the their costumes and toy version of the main mecha, weapons and headers.

This series will be aired this February.

And because of the almost 100% Japanese themed Shinkenger, Power Rangers stopped for a while in adapting super sentai. Will they make a US version of this newest Super Sentai Goseiger????

PROO - CT - Drivemax Megazord

Let us review the candy toy version of the Drivemax Zords from the series Power Rangers Operation Overddrive or from Super Sentai Boukenger. This set composed of just 3 boxes, 1 box for the Dump driver, 1 box for the Dozer driver and Speed driver and 1 box for Sub driver and Gyro driver.

I bought them from a mall here in Philippines for P280 each box or approximately $6 each box. The only worth your money is the Dump Driver because of its size.

PRJF - CT - Shark Animal Spirit

Here's my review for the Shark Animal Spirit.

This is the animal spirit of Master Finn, RJ's father. Master Finn hates disappointments and failures, even with his son he always wants to be perfect. He tried to teach RJ the shark technique but RJ always rejects it. But Cassey wants to learn it, so Master Finn decided to teach this technique to Cassey. And soon Cassey learned to use the Jungle Sabers; two swords that can be combined to form one large sword. Later in the series, the 3 masters can summon the Jungle Spirit Rangers after the phantom beasts unlocked them.

With that Rangers can now summon the Shark zord. Giving them an extra power and now their megazord can swim fast under the water.

PRJF - CT - Elephant Animal Spirit

Now for the first animal spirit that I will review, the Elephant animal spirit. This animal spirit is controlled by Master Phant that they will encounter later in the series. Lily helped Master Phant to regain his confidence to fight and after that he will teach Lily to summon the Elephant spirit to make them more powerful. The Elephant spirit can transform into the Elephant Ranger and summon the Elephant zord that can be transformed into an armor and a weapon (jungle mace) for the Jungle Pride Megazord and Jungle Master Megazord.

PRJF - CT - Jungle Master Megazord

I will now review the candy toy version of the 2nd Megazord of the Rangers in the series of Power Rangers Jungle Fury. Later in the series the rangers will have the access to Jungle Master powers with the help of Jungle Master Spirit Masters namely Master Rilla, Master Guin and Master Lope. The Rangers will become stronger, will have a new costumes and they can now access the power of three new zords; the Gorilla zord, Penguin zord and the Antelope zord. These zords will form the Jungle Master Megazord.

There are 3 candy toy boxes that you need to purchase to form this megazord. Each box comes with 1 zord that you need to assemble and apply some stickers. I bought them from a guy (I can't remember his name) for P700 (approx. $15). But before that I already have the Antelope zord so I have 2 antelopes.

  • Gorilla Zord - Red Ranger
Just like candy toy version of red tiger zord, I think among the 3 toys the gorilla zord will be the most worthy in terms of it's size, details and poseability maybe because the the two toys make the upper body of the megazord including the head, torso, arms and the thighs. For the articulations, the head can't move sideways. Arms and hands can move 360 deg., the elbows can be bend forward, hands can be opened unlike the hands of Red Tiger zord. The legs can move back and forth. The details are nice and it is very close to its DX counterpart almost 90%.

  • Antelope Zord - Blue Ranger
The Antelope zord is the simplest among the 3 toys. I think the simplest toy in this series. There's nothing you can do much in this toy, leg of the zord or the animal form. The articulations are also few. The legs can move back and forth (just for the transformation) but unlike the Cheetah and Jaguar you can not bend the legs. The head and the neck can move up and down.

  • Penguin Zord - Yellow Ranger
The Penguin Zord is 1 of my favorite zords in the series. It is so cool; a penguin with surf board (at first I thought it was a snake). The penguin has also a headphone on her ears and a heart shape symbol on her chest. For the articulations, you can move her head and her wings up and down or you can rotate it 360 deg. The legs can bend a little forward. The surf board can't roll at all.

  • Jungle Master Megazord
Combine them together to form Jungle Master Megazord. For me this zord is better than their first megazord. It is very nice and cool, looks like very strong and bulk. I also like the flaming chest of the megazord. You can pose the megazord in any way you want because of it's articulations, it has more articulations than it's DX version. Grab them if you have the chance to grab them because this is a very good toy.

I Rate It: 4/5

Here are some pics of Power Rangers Operation Overdrive: Drill, Shovel, Mix, Crane and Sonic Streaker; on their Transmax Version (US), Candy Toy Version (Jpn) and their Dx Version(Jpn). For us to compare their physical differences. I already explained some of them on my past post, so just some pictures of all three together. Check them out.

PRJF - CT - Jungle Pride Megazord

Power Rangers Jungle Fury is not yet aired in the Philippines so I don't know the whole story of this series yet. I only watched the first two episodes of the series on You Tube. All I know is that, there are three main characters in this series. Casey, Theo and Lily are the Red Ranger, Blue Ranger and Yellow Ranger respectively. They are fighting to save the world from the evil Dai Shi's plan. The Japanese Counterpart of this is the Juken Sentai Gekiranger.

I am reviewing the Candy Toy version of the Jungle Pride Megazord.

***Candy Toys are the smaller versions of the deluxe megazords toys and usually these are from Japan because U.S. don't release them in the market. They are half the size of the original Deluxe version and much cheaper. The parts are made of hard plastic and you need to first assemble the parts included in the box. There are stickers that you need to apply so that your zords will be more likely close to the original zords in the series. One thing I don't like about Candy Toys is that their stickers are can be easily wear off, specially for the smaller ones. Sometimes, while you are playing you might lost it without even knowing it.

There are three Candy Toys Boxes that you need to be able to form the Jungle Pride Megazord

RED TIGER: The Red Tiger zord is the first jungle spirit of Casey the Red Ranger.

I bought it at the Department Store of SM North Edsa for P250 or $5. The Red Tiger will be the upper body including the thigh of the Jungle Pride Megazord that means Head, Arms and Torso are included. The Head don't move side ways but it can move upward and downward because of the transformation process. The Arms can rotate 360 and elbows can bend forward. The hand can be rotated 360. It's Tail can be removed to form the weapon of the megazord.

BLUE JAGUAR: The Blue Jaguar is the jungle spirit of Theo the Blue Ranger.

I got this at Toy Kingdom in "The Block" for discounted price of P150 or approx. $3 because it was on sale. The Blue Jaguar will be the right leg of the Jungle Pride Megazord. The Head and Neck can move up and down, it's mouth can be opened and it has Shades/ Visor that can be moved up and down. And then it's Hind legs are fixed. The front legs can move 360. All four Knees are can bend because of the transformation process. It's Tail can be removed to form the weapon of the megazord.

YELLOW CHEETAH: The first jungle spirit of Lily, the Yellow Ranger.

I got this along with the Red Tiger, for P250 or $5. It's not that big just like the Red Tiger so I think the price is not fair. This will be the left leg of the megazord. This is my least favorite of the three because there's nothing you can do much here. Just like the articulation of the Blue Jaguar.

Jungle Pride Megazord

That's it just put them together to form the Jungle Pride Megazord, the first Megazord of the Rangers in Power Rangers Jungle Fury. They are like the tigers of Voltron but only three. The robot mode is much cooler than in animal modes. It is nice, it has lots of articulation, you can pose it in any battle position you want.

I Rate It: 4/5

Transmax VS Candy Toy

Now let us cite some differences and similarities between U.S.'s Transmax Megazord and Japan's Candy Toys. The above pics are from Power Rangers Operation Overdrive or the Super Sentai Boukenger Series.

This is the first time that Bandai America released a mini version of their Megazords. They called it Transmax Vehicles. They are transformable to vehicles and can also form Megazord. It has different sets. I only got 2 sets, Set B and Set C so I have the nos. 2,3,6,7,8,9 and 10 vehicles.

Let's start:

SIZE

As you can see in the picture the CT version is a little bigger to the Transmax version. But somehow the CT is more consistent when it comes to the size because the Transmax Vehicles have different scales sometimes it is bigger and sometimes smaller than CT. When you combine them you will see that the body of transmax is big and the legs are too short making your megazord looks awkward.

  • Winner: Candy Toy Version

DETAILS

What is good with the Transmax is that they used paints and they have shiny paints if necessary. Paints can last more than the stickers of CT. BUT CT is more detailed when you apply the stickers provided. It has even the number of the zord.

  • Winner: Both

PLAYABILITY

For the playability factor, Transmax is ready for playing after your purchased. But the CT version needs your patience for the assemble of each zords then after the assemble, you still need to properly and carefully apply the stickers. In Transmax you can do some Megazords that are not in the show, just mix and combine them like LEGO.

  • Winner: Transmax Version

ARTICULATION

For the articulation, I am very sure that CT won this aspect because the CT version is same as the DX version and sometimes even better articulation than the original. Transmax version is like a LEGO; it has pegs, you need to detach each part and connect again to form into a Megazord or vice versa and even in posing them.

  • Winner: Candy Toy Version

PRICE

The CT is a little expensive compared to the Transmax because in this set; Transmax requires only 2 sets which consist of 7 zords while in CT you need to buy 5 boxes which roughly costs $4 (P210.00) each, but you will get a nice and more accurate toys.

  • Winner: Both

FINAL SCORE

Transmax - 1 Candy Toy - 2

Draw - 2

Final Verdict

You want a toy that has lots of ways to play BUT not detailed
or
You want a toy that is exactly a mini version of the original toy BUT a litte pricey

DX VS. CANDY TOY

I will show and site some differences between a DX Mecha and its Candy Toy Version. The example pics are from Japan's Super Sentai Boukenger or the America's Power Rangers Operation Overdrive.

SIZE

Size will be the first thing that you will notice if you put them side by side. Candy Toys are just half the size of the original DX version.

  • Winner: DX version

DETAILS

In Details, and the DX is more detailed. The DX version has Chrome paints to make it more realistic and close enough to the series. While in the other hand the Candy Toy will only be look like in the series if you apply the stickers or if you want, you can paint it. The Dx are made from strong plastic while the Candy Toy are made from softer plastic.

  • Winner: DX version

PLAYABILITY

Well the DX version is ready to play, just open the box and you can already play with it but in the Candy Toy is the opposite of that, because you need to assemble first each mechas and apply some stickers to it before you can enjoy it. But that's the fun on it, after your hard work in making it you can see what masterpiece you have made.

  • Winner: DX version

ARTICULATION

In the articulation, they are 90% the same because there are some points where you can move the Candy Toy more, like in the Boukenger toy, the elbows of the arms can be rotated 360. BUT the DX version is compact. You can pose it without tearing them apart.

  • Winner: Both

PRICE

Price is the biggest factor that you need to consider in choosing what version you want to buy. The DX version cost around $70 just the 5 mechas and if you want the Ultimate Daibouken (Drivemax Ultrazord) which consists of 10 mechas you will spend approx. $300. While the Candy Toy version costs only less than $20 for the 5 mechas that's almost 70% cheaper.

  • Winner: Candy Toy version. (at last)

FINAL SCORE
DX - 3 points Candy Toy - 1 point
Draw: 1 point

You want a great toy that has a nice quality and bigger but "TOO pricey"

or

You want a cute toy that has less quality but also similar to the original but "TOO cheap"
