Let us review the candy toy version of the Drivemax Zords from the series Power Rangers Operation Overddrive or from Super Sentai Boukenger. This set composed of just 3 boxes, 1 box for the Dump driver, 1 box for the Dozer driver and Speed driver and 1 box for Sub driver and Gyro driver.
I bought them from a mall here in Philippines for P280 each box or approximately $6 each box. The only worth your money is the Dump Driver because of its size.
What I really like in candy toys is that they are 95% the same as the DX version. Same appearance and same transformation. Sometimes they are much better than the DX, they are cheaper and most of the time they are more articulated than DX.
But there are some cons also, sometimes the colours are not the same as in the DX version, for example, in this set; the gyro is supposedly blue but in this toy it is white and you have to put too much stickers to make it blue. The front of the Dump driver is yellow instead of silver or grey. The weapons are white instead of silver or grey. Also lower quality and most of all the stickers are easily wear off. BUT they are just minor problems because you can customize them if you want. (Wait for that segment only here on Toy Chronicles).
Just like in the DX version and in the series, you can combine the zords to form a trailer mode. Transforming to this mode is just the same as to DX.
The other mode is the megazord mode, just like I said Candy toy megazords are more articulated then the DX. This Drivemax Megazord has elbow articulation (the DX has straight arms), you can bend both arms and twist them 360 deg. The legs can also be rotated 360 deg. which the DX can't.
What I like in this toy and even in the series is that; It has three modes (zords, tralier mode and the megazord mode). There are only few megazords that have 3 modes (SPD's SWAT Megazord, Operation Overdrive's Battlefleet Megazord, Samurai Sentai Shinkenger ShinkenOh are some of these). There are many ways you can play or display it.
